coral castillo: I grew up with the exposure of custom made clothing and fine fabrics. Mom was a dress-maker and when I was little I loved to see mom’s fittings, especially the faces of her clientele when they slipped in the dress that mom made. They were so beautiful! I wanted to create that same transformation. Then, Mom taught me to hand sew when I was six and I started sewing dresses for my dollies. When I was twelve I wanted to learn how to use the sewing machine, but mom didn’t see it as a way to entertain myself and she was scared that I damage her sewing machine. She was maintaining my brothers sister and me out of the pay of her dresses. Without her knowing I started using her sewing machine and stealing her fabrics. Many times, she found out that I used her sewing machine and she was so mad at me because I damage it. I didn’t like to make her mad or upset her, but I couldn't stop doing it. I can’t get away from the things I love. I’ll fight for them! I believe that every woman is beautiful and that a dress or piece of clothing could make that beauty bright at it’s most. www.coralcastillo.com
